The Decline of Play and Rise in Children's Mental Disorders

This article published July 2015 on Psychology Today by Peter Gray, PhD details issues such as the decline of young people's sense of personal control over their fate, the shift towards extrinsic goals and away from intrinsic goals, and their connection to an increase in childhood anxiety and depression.
The 2019 ParticipACTION Report Card on Physical Activity For Children and Youth

This report card from ParticipACTION gives a D- grade for the amount of physical activity Canadian children and youth are receiving. They stress that the biggest risk to kids is keeping them inside.

Active Today, Active for Life!
This website was developed to support the Daily Physical Activity (DPA) policy of the Ontario government’s Healthy Schools program. As part of this program, students in grades 1 to 8 are required take part in a minimum of 20 minutes of sustained moderate to vigorous daily physical activity.

The site includes helpful information about safety, inclusion, and scheduling, as well as printable activity sheets, and videos of activities that show Ontario teachers and school leaders how to implement DPA in the classroom, gymnasium, multipurpose areas, and outdoors.
