Camping

Alberta Camping Association
The Alberta Camping Association represents organized camps in Alberta that voluntarily meet basic standards of good practice & safety.  We believe in the value of camp, and promote camp as a citizenship, leadership, & skill development experience for life.

Camping Basics
Camping offers the serenity of escape — and, if it's combined with the exercise of a hiking trip, it benefits both body and mind. The simplicity of camping combined with the beauty of nature can help us readjust and unwind from our hectic lifestyles.

Whether you're in the woods, in the desert, combing the beaches, or climbing mountain trails, you'll want to keep a few survival techniques in mind to guarantee a memorable trip.

Cold Weather Camping
Cold weather camping as defined by BSA is "camping in weather where the average daily temperature is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit and conditions are cold, wet or windy."
The most important thing to remember about cold weather camping is to KEEP DRY. Moisture will reduce the insulating properties of almost everything.
Outdoor Camps
A great site for information on outdoor camps in various Canadian locations. The overall purpose of any Salvation Army camp is to serve the total personality and health needs of the camper; spiritual, educational, social, and recreational through a creative, healthful experience, in co-operative group living inoutdoor settings.
Winter Camping
Great tips and information on winter camping! Learn how to stay warm, choose the right backpack, and much more. The best place to start is with an assumption that you
have at least a small amount of Backpacking experience. To start your backpacking career in the winter might be asking an awful lot of yourself. So I will presume that you are comfortable around backpacks, sleeping bags, boots, stoves, and tents. We will discuss these items in detail in other sections.
