Conditioning

Seven Fundamental Movements
This website emphasizes the biomechanics behind the seven basic gymnastic movement patterns and some recommended program designs. Conditioning questions often
arise among coaches who are seeking to simplify and coordinate their conditioning programs. Suffice it to say, conditioning is essential for modern gymnastics. Gymnasts, particularly elite gymnasts, must be in spectacular physical condition. Gymnasts train their fitness primarily for practice - not competition. This is quite different from many other sports that train for fitness characteristics that will only be seen in the competition.
Gymnastics Core Conditioning
This website primarily focuses on core conditioning which is vital for gymnastics. Most of these exercises can be done without any gymnastic equipment, and can be an added fitness component to any physical education class.  In order to stay tight and control ones body during difficult skills you must have a strong core. Abs and lower back must be able to hold rigid with ease, as well as contract quickly to generate momentum for skills.
Test Flexibility
Have students learn about their flexibility by performing a series of short tests. STRETCHING is usually one of the most neglected areas of a workout which greatly enhances your flexibility. It is highly encouraged prior to beginning each workout, during your workout and after your workout. This will help to maximize exercise performance as well as assist in the prevention of potential injuries.
